Quadcopter

UAV Assembly

For one of my classes I am to take a diy quadcopter kit and document all the parts and assemblies as well as design additional parts for it and then assemble and fly the thing.

The kit I chose was a smaller FPV 250 class UAV minus any of the FPV (First Person Video) equipment. This has already been quite the project and we haven’t even really started working with it much.

First I had to research this new thing I knew almost nothing about. Finding out what parts I needed to assemble it. Since getting the parts in and realizing I had a pile of carbon fiber and aluminum pieces with several small electronics and had to figure out how to even wire it. I’ve at this point made wiring diagrams and have started making my models of every part down to the screws and the molds for every plastic piece. As well I’ve taken a few of the electronics and started configuring the software/firmware for each of the devices interfacing with a pc.

This is an enjoyable project I will continue to document as it progresses. On top of all of the above I have also had to research the laws regarding these devices and take the necessary steps to remain legal, getting proper registrations and licenses.
